Welcome back to another issue of The Denham Springs Local.
Hope you had a good long weekend.
We got another slow week coming up. School's settled in, everybody spent their money over the long weekend, and the calendar is showing it.
Looks like the heat may back off a tad this week but there’s a good bit of storms in the forecast.

Quick favor: if you know somebody who would like to know what's happening around town, forward this email to them. It helps us grow and helps them know what's going on!
Alright, let's get into it…
SHOUTOUT OF THE WEEK
The Mustard Seed Creamery
Tim and Tasha Levert opened the Mustard Seed Creamery in 2024, in the antique district.
It's more than ice cream. They do wine, coffee, and small plates too, and they rent the space out for showers and parties.
The ice cream comes from New Orleans Ice Cream Company. The root beer in the floats comes from Le Chien. And apparently they make their own waffle cones in house.
They also hosted the mayoral debate in there last week.
So go say hey and tell them the Denham Springs Local sent you!

The scam calls have gotten really good
You know the ones. Somebody calls and they already have your name, they know which bank you use, and they sound like a real person having a bad day at work. The old advice was just don't answer. That stopped being enough a while back.
Knowing what to look for is most of it. But some of it happens where you can't see it — your info getting out, accounts getting poked at, none of it something you'd catch on your own.
I put up a page with what I'd do about it:
THIS WEEK
Sunny Side Up Book Club @ Watson Library
Tues 9/8, 10-11:30am
