SHOUTOUT OF THE WEEK
The Whistle Stop
If it's been a while since you stopped in at The Whistle Stop, this is your nudge to go back. The place has leveled up.
New owners took the reins back in 2025, and they've been building on what was already here. They freshened up the space, stretched the hours to 8pm most nights, and, the part that got my attention: switched the coffee over to Luma Coffee Roasters out of Hammond! If you haven't had Luma, it’s genuinely good coffee. Me and my wife would sometimes drive to Hammond on a Saturday morning just for Luma coffee. Now there’s no need to go all the way out to Hammond for good coffee!
And their omelets and sandwiches are the real deal. Pair one with a Luma pour and grab a seat by the tracks. It's become one of the better spots downtown to slow down for a bit, whether that's a lunch break or just getting some work done.
Right at the south end of the antique district before you hit the train tracks. Note they are closed on Sundays and Mondays. But go check it out again, and tell them the Denham Springs Local sent you.
