Denham Springs Main Street

In case you didn't know, Denham Springs has a Main Street program. It's a group of volunteers who've been looking after our historic downtown for over 25 years.

Back in May, they got accredited by Main Street America, which is the highest rating they give out. Only 19 towns in Louisiana got it this year.

They're also the ones behind the chili cook-off downtown on Saturday, October 10th. But more about that when it gets closer.

So next time you're walking around the antique village, that's who you can thank for it.

Everybody's got one. It's the dog's name plus the year you graduated, and it's on your email, your bank, and some shopping site you used once in 2014.

When one of those sites gets breached, that password ends up on a list. Then people run the list against everything else to see what opens.

Changing it everywhere is a pain, I know. But you can at least find out what's already floating around with your name on it, and get a heads up when something new turns up.

Here's what I'd do about it:

Tues 9/22, 5:30-7pm

Make a straight-shaped fall leaf wreath with autumn colors and seasonal accents. Ages 18+, registration required.

Tues 9/22, 6-7pm

The library's Readers Club book club, meeting at CC's on S. Range. You don't have to be in Readers Club to come talk books. Ages 18+.

Thurs 9/24, 11am-1pm

This is the 9th year the Livingston Parish Chamber has put this on. Speakers and topics for women, by women, and over 300 people come every year.

Fri 9/25, 8pm

Tickets bought online come with a free drink. You have to be 21 or over to buy one. Tickets start around $12.

Sat 9/26, 11am-6pm

This is the 4th annual pop culture convention on Eden Church Rd. There's a marketplace with comics, cards, and collectibles, plus video game tournaments and cosplay contests.

Mon 9/28, 10:30pm - Tues 9/29, 1am

This is the midnight release of the new Rebecca Yarros book, with games, snacks, and goodies until you get your copy at 12. Preordering the book through Cavalier House is your ticket in.

Wednesdays at 6:30pm

Line Dancing every Wednesday night starting at 6:30 pm in the Crown Room.

Stroll the streets, sip something local, discover handcrafted treasures, and enjoy the vibe. It’s the perfect way to shake up your Friday night plans! So come on out and see what the local shops are up to.

Saturdays 8am-12pm

Every Saturday morning in Denham Springs at City Hall.

Every 4th Saturday 2-8pm

Guided hand building, ceramic painting, good company and a moment to create something unique with your own hands. Coffee, tea, water, and snacks available. 21+ can B.Y.O.B. (please enjoy responsibly). This is a drop-in event, so there's no need to book a specific time. Just come in when you're available!

3rd Sunday every month at 9am

Breakfast at the Way Church. Everyone is welcome, so this will be an awesome chance to invite your neighbors, friends, and family for a morning of good food and good fellowship followed by some good worship about a great God!
