Welcome back to another issue of The Denham Springs Local.

Looks like things are starting to pick back up some this week. Car show, author signing, cage fights. Something for everybody I guess.

Gonna be another scorcher though.

Quick favor: if you know somebody who would like to know what's happening around town, forward this email to them. It helps us grow and helps them know what's going on!

Alright, let's get into it…

SHOUTOUT OF THE WEEK

81,280 books

Maybe there's hope for humanity after all.

That's how many books our library readers logged in this summer's reading program. Most in the system's 80 year history, and the second year straight over 80,000.

I would've bet money reading was losing this fight. Everything's a screen now. Apparently nobody told Livingston Parish.

I'm not much of a reader myself, which is probably why this got me. I'll get about forty pages in and wander off to something else.

But 81,280 books says a whole lot of people around here are better at it than I am.
